I think you’re right! I just did a quick image search, and Georgia’s is the only one I can find that’s not just a red, white and blue or flag motif.
The down-side to voting by mail is that you fill out the ballot and then drop it in the mail. “Well, that’s over with,” you think to yourself. And then the whole thing drags out for another few weeks. You still keep getting those damn glossy four-color brochures jammed in your mailbox. Who can afford those things? Rapscallions, mostly.
The voter information guides are usually fairly weak, unless you’re the sort to actually read the entire text of the Proposals, or your EULAs. When I become confused, I look to see who paid for the pro and con arguments. You’ll find that real estate concerns and “Taxpayer Alliances” like to argue against all manner of proposals. Neither will let you join their organizations. Vote accordingly.
Aww, you’re a peach of a guy!
/old slang…REALLY old slang
We’re all vote by mail here so I voted like a week ago. So…
I just realized, based on all the people extolling the virtues of voting by mail, that I actually have to go about 4-5 times further from home to vote by mail than if I just go to an early voting location. And on the day, my polling place is 1 1/2 blocks away, so there’s no reasonable comparison at all there.
Of course, this is because I have to go downtown to an actual post office to be sure my ballot will arrive at its destination. But still…it’s a good reminder that there isn’t one solution that is best for everyone, so the more options available, the better for all.
Today is mine, too!
High five!
I voted for Amendment 1, but yes, the rest are just awful. My elderly, straight-ticket-Repub-voting parents recently moved to MO, and I told them if they don’t understand the amendments, don’t vote on them. Not much, but I did what I could…
That’s a risk even if she wins by a landslide, but I wouldn’t worry too much about those Pakleds. Without their leader they’ll soon grow confused and wander off, eventually being picked up by Animal Control when they’re found grazing out by the highway.
That said, no one should be thinking of a Hillary win. Your best move right now is to accept in your heart that Turmp has definitely won.
I vetoed.
(I may be slightly dyslexic).
Did so this morning.
Congrats on voting in your first election Rob; what a doozie.
Not just a feature of vote-by-mail. I really miss that about California elections versus Ohio ones. In Cali they sent out these nice voter information guides with mini-debates on the measures (for, against, counter-for, counter-against) and info on the candidates. Here in swingstatesville, very little info unless i go out searching.
What’s especially lame is that my state (WA) is vote by mail only and you still have to pay postage if you can’t make it to a ballot drop off location. Luckily for me, I live right down the street from one but I would imagine the folks in one of the many rural areas here aren’t so lucky.
Poll tax!
Aw …
Here in Wisconsin we get the standard RW+B flag stickers:
Although of course that picture includes my volunteer badge, so that makes it a bit more unique, right?
The intersection closest to my nearest County ballot box was super busy for 10 AM weekday. Glad to see citizens making an effort.
I’ll wait until tomorrow until I start looking for the person who swore that there would be record ‘low voter turn out,’ and telling them I told you so.
