"A statement from Attorney General Mark Herringâs office said Herring was proud of his work on this case and the denial of the âplaintiffâs last ditch effortâ means this is the end of the case.
âHe believes it is time for the Commonwealth to move away from a past when leaders of a racist insurrection were glorified to a future that tells our whole history fully and truthfully,â the statement read."
AG Herring is up for re-election in Nov.
Where where?
Every, every where?
Should it be hear, hear? Yes.
As a fellow bearer of the Coveted Pendant, I knew you would understand.
150 years is way too long to publicly display a participation trophy.
Technically this is about misogyny, but itâs a multi-pronged approach to make things better for girls and women in STEM fields moving forward (plus, filling in major gaps in science history, which is useful for everyone).
First step is a running podcast, starting November 4th:
Story from June, but never saw it reported here or anywhere.
Decatur County, Georgia finally voted to remove a âgenocide cannonâ from a city square where it has resided for over a century. The cannon was used in the Indian War of 1836, when more than 3,500 Natives were slaughtered, leading to the Trail of Tears death march. This is yet another monument to white supremacy erected during the height of Jim Crow by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. This particular chapter honored Agnes Lee, aka âWiggy,â fifth child of Robert E. Wiggy was born at Arlington and probably watched her father tie to a post and whip two enslaved blacks, one a young woman, who had run away from the plantation and been captured, after Lee delayed for five years in granting them the freedom theyâd been promised by their former âowner,â Leeâs father-in-law George Custis (George and Martha Washingtonâs grandson).
Excellent news⌠but Decatur is a city in Dekalb county⌠Decatur is probably what most white people would consider the most progressive part of the metro area (elite, rich, white nimbys, reliably democratic and quirky). Iâd say they should defer to Clarkston, one of the most diverse cities in the US.
