Judge Stanley Bastian in Yakima, Washington, said he was issuing a nationwide preliminary injunction sought by 14 states that sued the Trump administration and the U.S. Postal Service.

The states challenged the Postal Service’s so-called “leave behind” policy, where trucks have been leaving postal facilities on time regardless of whether there is more mail to load. They also sought to force the Postal Service to treat election mail as First Class mail.

It’s Saturday night. Justice Ginsburg has left us. Catastrophic wildfires. Melting polar ice. Pandemic. Cult45 is busily pushing its toxic messages and its machine and its abettors are aiming to part out what’s left of the U.S. to the highest bidders.

Let’s listen to some Sam Cooke, shall we?

Story here:

And, probably not news to most, but I just realized Harry Belafonte is still alive, and that’s not bad news.

Anytime I need to get up from the home office to get the blood pumping, he’s got a tune to get the dance party started.

My wife and I were talking a little while ago about how there hadn’t been any news about ND lately, so it’s good to hear that things are proceeding apace.

Young people partying in the open air on a good night. People not being too curtain twitchy about it. People are allowed in pubs in that part of the country, which I wouldn’t do, I did eat out today in a garden across the road from work which I had to go into. And I really miss live music, so much that I’m paying to watch a livestream of a small regular gig i go to soon. So I don’t have much of a problem with kids dancing in a field.

As those of us in the northern hemisphere enter the cold season and are still all pretty home-bound, I thought you might enjoy some arm-chair travels. The Global Ecovillage Network is a pretty cool site, where you can read about eco villages all over the world, and even think about setting up visits when travel is safe again:

I used this site a while ago to find great places to do work trade in Germany, Italy and Turkey. You meet interesting folks, and I learned a lot about olive farming, goat tending, and dry-stacked stone masonry, while getting a nice place to stay, meals and time to explore the local area.
Even if you don’t plan on visiting, it’s fun to read about some of the wackier premises for setting up the eco villages.

Samuels was the Exec Director of the Williams Institute at UCLA Law School. It’s an LGBT think tank focusing on legal and demographic issues. Much of the reliable demo data on the LGBT populations came from here.

The nomination of Samuels is so out of character for the trump administration. She sounds like she’ll do a good job, experience with LGBTQ issues and bureaucratic experience.

I believe each party gets to nominate a certain number of Commissioners. She’s a Dem party nominee- I think the Senate sat on it for quite a long time.

That would explain things. Although the article says “Samuels, Lucas, and Sonderling were nominated by the White House in March.” It may be a mistake or the white house has to nominate from a short list provided by the dems. I could probably find out but I’m tired and it doesn’t much matter how she got there, just that she was appointed
