Or thatā€™s all thatā€™s available. Sometimes it seems like everything is either superskinny spandex, ripped, or both.

At least with the pandemic, thatā€™s one thing less Iā€™ve had to buy.

Was looking for positive stories to begin Womenā€™s History Month, and saw this:

Let this stand as further evidence that local elections have significant consequences too. We need to stay engaged as off- and off-off-year state and local elections come around.

Hm. Iā€™m not sure more plastic in our environment would be a good thing?

Except the article says they are using waste plastics from the trash and that ā€œincorporating the waste plastic instead of incinerating it also saves three tonnes of carbon dioxide per kilometer or road.ā€

Fair enough, but itā€™s still plastics going into the environment, yeah? Itā€™s true we need to do something with the plastics that already exists, but maybe not doing that might be better?

Maybe, but our roads are covered in asphalt (a messy fossil fuels product) already. Mixing some unrecyclable Styrofoam into them might not be the worse way to get rid of the stuff. The article also implies that the road might last longer with plastic mixed in which will mean less asphalt and less funds spent on road repair. Definitely worth a closer look.

For the first time in months, Iā€™m seeing birds in the bird bath, on a surprisingly warm day.

For the most part, plastics are made from fossil fuels, so, perhaps, eventuallyā€¦ :relaxed:

Said by a scientist many years ago (I think it was in an issue of OMNI): [paraphrasing] If ancient giant cephalopods had avoided extinction, theyā€™d be the ones running the planet now and far ahead of us.

Makes me wonder if thatā€™s why the aliens in the sci-fi film Arrival were depicted as being squid-like.

ā€œOurā€ hummingbirds came back several days ago. Now the feeder prep/fill ritual begins again. :slightly_smiling_face:

We also have a brand new noisy visitor of unknown species [Finch?] that over the past couple of weeks alights on one particular spot on our patio wall, hops along the wall as far as it can go, then flies off, all along the way calling for its foraging mate. Clingy little boi.
