Thanks @mr_raccoon !
Is it wrong for me to be aroused by Finlandâs government in every sense of the word?
Our govt is not perfect, but itâs still pretty good.
Why we canât have nice things.
The 650 troops are there with the support of the Kosovo government thus far⌠I can see Kurti wanting them gone, though, as heâs never been supportive of western interventionism in general. Kurti is likely not very popular in western diplomatic circles, given his leftward tilt and his history of troublemaking.
That being said Serbia still has not acknowledged the sovereignty of Kosovo, Russia backs them, and having American troops there provides some stability. I suspect many Kosovars (at least ones that are not Serbian by ethnicity) would prefer American troops to stay, given the possibility of renewed tensions. There are have been flashpoints in the northern part of Kosovo along the border continuing, especially among Kosovar Serbs who would prefer to be a part of Serbia.
I will also note that Croatia is seeing a major spike in ethnic nationalism. People ignore the Balkans, but letâs not forget that itâs a crossroads of cultures and it was there that the great war started. We ignore the Balkans at our peril.
This is happening a few weeks early, but it happened, so I will chalk it up in the âgood (encouraging) stuffâ column.
Plus: Finns dig Ted Curson.
Unlike Disney Land, Finland was officially declared the happiest place on earth
I thought it was Denmark?
Itâs a small thing.
That is really smart and thoughtful at the same time!
Itâs that time of year againâŚ
