Is it wrong for me to be aroused by Finland’s government in every sense of the word?

Our govt is not perfect, but it’s still pretty good.

Why we can’t have nice things.

The 650 troops are there with the support of the Kosovo government thus far… I can see Kurti wanting them gone, though, as he’s never been supportive of western interventionism in general. Kurti is likely not very popular in western diplomatic circles, given his leftward tilt and his history of troublemaking.

That being said Serbia still has not acknowledged the sovereignty of Kosovo, Russia backs them, and having American troops there provides some stability. I suspect many Kosovars (at least ones that are not Serbian by ethnicity) would prefer American troops to stay, given the possibility of renewed tensions. There are have been flashpoints in the northern part of Kosovo along the border continuing, especially among Kosovar Serbs who would prefer to be a part of Serbia.

I will also note that Croatia is seeing a major spike in ethnic nationalism. People ignore the Balkans, but let’s not forget that it’s a crossroads of cultures and it was there that the great war started. We ignore the Balkans at our peril.

This is happening a few weeks early, but it happened, so I will chalk it up in the “good (encouraging) stuff” column.
