Among the unexpected sources of support for the magazine was the “fediverse” – the collection of decentralized Mastodon servers that soared in popularity following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.
My partner and I pitched in $50.
Molly Ivins, wherever you are, we miss you.
Yes! More of this please!
Sen. John Fetterman has been released from the hospital and returned to his home just outside Pittsburgh, his office has announced.
Aww, The “The Kids Are Alright” thread died. Here:
I was going to reopen the thread and put that there for you, but then I saw that it’s a Musk link.
But hey, if you could open that thread again, that would be great! I also tried to post something there recently and realized it timed out.
Reopened then.
Saw that already…thank you!
Dear Wisconsin,
Thank you.
Sincerely,
A bunch of us

Thanks, that adds up to a lot of great news!
Mom called the pharmacy to re-order a prescription, and they asked a minimal ID check question of her birthdate.
M: “■■■■■, ■■, 1926.”
P: “Was that 1946?”
M: “No, ■■■■■, ■■, 1926.”
P: “Oh my gosh!”
One nice thing now is that twice a week a nurse comes to the house to change a dressing on her leg. (It’s not a huge problem, but there are no small problems at that age.) Previously we’d been going to a clinic after referral from a specialist, after a referral from her GP, but that was quite an effort for her.
One evening, the nurse at the clinic remarked “I can see that getting here is hard for you. Have you talked to the case manager about getting home visits?”
Boggle! I didn’t even know that there was a case manager, much less that home visits were even an option. Years, and this was never mentioned by her GP, the specialist, all the other nurses, no one.
Apparently Personal Support Worker visits are also an available option.
Let me tell you, that’s a considerable easing of pressure. I have backup!
I know that there’s at least one other mutant here as a caregiver. I’m in Ontario, don’t know about other places, but there might be more resources available than anyone has mentioned. Just a thought.
