This is certainly the case for me. We have a version of this debate every time JK, Mel Gibson, etc come up. Most people seem to be able to separate the art from the artist, but I just can’t.
I can’t enjoy Harry Potter, Lethal Weapon movies, anything Tom Cruise does, etc, because I know too much about the hateful nut jobs who made them. Ruins it for me. 
It is OK to not seperate the art from the artist when the artist is still getting money from the art.
No one cries about Gary Glitter not getting the attention he once did.
One of the early ones, Equal Rites, was about a woman who wanted to be a wizard. Agreed, his books are excellent and deep despite appearing fun and easy.
(Of course, ninja’d by many! Any mention of the much loved Sir Terry will bring out the devotees.)
i note that the journal of the federalist society which has groomed 99% of all the judges appointed by the last two republican presidents published an essay saying that they should no longer describe themselves as conservatives because there is nothing of value in modern society worth conserving and should do everything they can to repeal the 20th and 21st centuries. regarding trans people the essay had this to say–
" On the transgender question, conservatives will have to repudiate utterly the cowardly position of people like David French, in whose malformed worldview Drag Queen Story Hour at a taxpayer-funded library is a “blessing of liberty.” Conservatives need to get comfortable saying in reply to people like French that Drag Queen Story Hour should be outlawed; that parents who take their kids to drag shows should be arrested and charged with child abuse; that doctors who perform so-called “gender-affirming” interventions should be thrown in prison and have their medical licenses revoked; and that teachers who expose their students to sexually explicit material should not just be fired but be criminally prosecuted."

TERFs rarely mention trans men and when they do, they state that they’re just confused lesbians (or out-and-out gender traitors, depending on the severity of TERFiness).
Of course, trans men break Radfem ideology in a way they hate to think about- because to them women are “good” and men are “baaaad”, so when they’re denying reality, to them trans men are women and still “good” but they’re out there contradicting their insane ideology just by existing, so they have to be dismissed as “not womaning properly”, or “manipulated by the patriarchy” (their usual excuse- blame all evil in the world on the Great Satan of their religion). Anything rather than confront the inherent contradictions at the heart of their beliefs.
The scary thing, of course is how much mainstream feminism is influenced by this shit, rather than the sane liberal tradition which holds that all people are equal on account of their common, shared humanity.
