Dog bites can introduce plenty of pathogenic bacteria and should be monitored closely. Seriously if they break skin its a good idea to get checked out. In some cases you may need prophylactic antibiotics, rabies vaccination or tetanus treatment.
Called out for what exactly? Someone getting offended because they thought a message that wasn’t in response to them was calling them out as a likely animal abuser? Calling out a likely animal abuser? No, I’m not going to apologise for that.
Those exact words have been used multiple times in front of me by people who violently lashed out at completely non-aggressive dogs while claiming “self defence” - one involved the police being called and jail time, the other fortunately didn’t cause lasting injury to the dog, but was still the excuse used by an asshole to punt an injured two month old puppy across a room.
If you’re of the opinion that any animal can suddenly turn violent and attack regardless of it’s history and demonstrated nature just because they’re an animal, you’re the one who can’t be trusted near animals, and you should stay away from them.
But dogs are great! Sure you have a thing in your house that can kill or maim you without blinking an eye, but as a trade off, it’s loud annoying, stupid, smelly, and you have to buy it food and clean up its shit.
Statistically speaking you are more than a thousand times more likely to be murdered by a human than killed by a dog. So the real question is why so many people are crazy enough to allow another human in their home.
