Albuquerque: “We understand that you have considerable experience in things that explode – which must mean that you can stop things from exploding. We’d love to hire you for that job.”

“Land of enchantment“ is a perfectly cromulent state tourism slogan. It’s certainly less of a head-scratcher than Nebraska’s (“Honestly, it’s not for everyone.”)

He joined the Violence Intervention Program and he staged a violent intervention. I’m not seeing the problem here. Sounds like the guy was just doing his job.

NM has a bit of a split personality here I think. On one hand it’s a gorgeous state with a rich history and deep culture. On the other hand it’s ranked consistently worst in a number of “livability” metrics: (violent) crime, education, economy, etc.

“We’ve been contemplating background checks,” Ruiz-Angel said. “We know that they’re not going to pass them, but it would give us a perspective on what we’re working with and who’s coming in to work with us.”
What the actual fuck. I can’t even volunteer for my kid’s halloween party without a backround check.
