Well, it also raises a conversation about how your government has executed at least US citizen without any judicial process using a presidential kill-list and claimed it’s totally within their rights to do so. As long as you have non-transparent processes by which your citizens can be targeted for drone strikes, I think it’s fair to say that first and second amendment absolutism is a joke. If you hold to the view that the government can never be trust to not punish people arbitrarily then your first and second amendment rights are already completely void.
Who cares if the government can pass a law preventing speech when it can kill you for your speech without even having to pass a law.
And I trust psychologists a lot more than psychiatrists!

OTOH, I’m not a huge fan of clinical psychologists either.
Psych medicine is in a similar state to where the physicians were in the 19th century. Most of what we’ve got doesn’t work, the bits that do work often carry horrible side effects, and even when it does work we usually don’t have a proper understanding of how and why.
Partly that’s just because brains are fucking complicated. But there’s also a major need to clean house and purge the quacks.

eta: just reading on it now cause I don’t need more rage in my life., the ‘kids’ were 17 and 22? 17 while not really adult isn’t a kid anymore either. now I am even more sad. Also from what I read in that there is no fucking way that woman should have been allowed access to firearm.

I’d disagree. Guns are about lethal power over other people, regardless if one justifies the reason as protection or oppression. Guns make the power over problem exponentially worse, now anyone can have lethal power over anyone else for any reason. This is the exact reason guns are used by the military, by police, by gangs, and by criminals.
