Hopefully, she convinced a few older white boomer dudes to vote for her by going on his show…
Maybe, but Sterns has been anti-Trump for awhile now, so I don’t know how many MAGA inclined white boomer dudes were still listening to him. Maybe if there were some of the mythical undecideds. I wouldn’t mind seeing her go on Joe Rogan, but Rogan would probably be canceled by his own fan base and he knows that.
All the stories I read on why Kamala went on Stern has to do with 74% of his listeners are 25 - 54 year old men.
But, I wonder if they stick around when he puts the fart jokes and sex talk on hold.
I’m the opposite, I listen for the interviews, especially musical guests, and leave when he goes juvenile.
My wife enjoys when he has his wife on talking about their cat rescue and their personal life.
Either way, I hope all her interviews the last couple days help put her over the top.
I have voted! I dropped my ballot in a drop box 2 days ago.
I’m voting in person for two reasons.
- I love voting in person!
- In Pennsylvania the mail in votes don’t start getting counted until the polls close & the count can go on for a long time. I want it included on election night! And fortunately, my voting place is right across the street.
But it really is good to lock in your vote ahead of time. Who knows what might come up on Election Day and stop someone from getting to the polls? Family crisis, work crisis, have to travel last minute, get sick?
And in my case, it means we will be free to move sooner, if we want to. I’m not sure we will, but it’s nice to have the option. If we get lucky, and someone buys our house and wants to close practically immediately, that’s something we could now do.
ETA: Now that I think about it, this might be why we haven’t had any offers. Where we live is a common retirement area for New Yorkers who don’t want to retire to Florida. And these days, that’s probably more and more people, because of climate change. But people are probably reluctant to move to a new state right now because they want to be able to vote.
Now comes the Big Finish!
I’m glad they raised so much but it’s kinda fucked our country spends so much on political campaigns
In many places, it’s not too late to sign up to be a poll worker! It’s a Very Long day (some places let you do half days), but it’s rewarding. And if you’re like me and would otherwise spend the day spiraling in anxiety and dread, it’s a good way to stay busy…!
I’m trying to imagine how it would go if I was a poll watcher in my stupidly red county.
By best guess is the third voter would start hassling me about wearing a face diaper.
I would remain calm but by the 5th voter I would probably tell them all to go f**k themselves and I’d walk out.
Then I could read the posts about the liberal they chased off on the local groups.
I get that. I’m in a very purple area, and I was pleasantly surprised at how civil folks were in the couple of prior elections I’ve worked…but this’ll be my first presidential election. The guy who led the BOE training said point blank that it’ll be a shit show. They’re even bending some of the typical electioneering rules out of fear of folks going berserk when, say, asked to take off their red hats. I used to teach in a deep red part of my county, and you couldn’t pay me enough to work the polls there
I’m poll watching in Philly. We don’t get much right wing violence. Hell - we literally chased the Proud Boys out several times- ran away at top speed.
Then again- that’s not the only violence we need to be worried about.
More like this please! Turn TFG’s bullshit right back into him.
Detroit’s transformation over the last 30 years has been pretty gratifying to witness. Downtown, once again, is a destination, and, once again, you can get there on a train. (Eff U, Michael Bay, you’ll never be able to blow up the train station or the Packard plant in one of your crap movies ever again.)
He’s very old & very out of touch.
A healthy two-party system is predicated on the existence of a loyal opposition party that values the continued existence of the system itself.
