That’s…not how sacrifice works.

And these experimental results have yet to be reproduced.

Fucking ghouls.

Remember that clinical trial, promoted by President Trump, of a possible COVID-19 cure? So, so, so many questions…

Positive small-scale trials in China, Australia and France, last I heard.

Calling the current data “experimental results” is a bit of a stretch. They were more akin to small clinical trials lacking sufficient statistical power to draw meaningful conclusions. The results were encouraging, but not well controlled nor large enough to yield actionable data. Chloroquines might be useful, might even shorten duration of illness, but to call it a cure is way beyond uncalled for at this stage. And injuring people who need these meds for treatments that we actually know are effective is unethical at the minimum.

According to TFA, pharmacies are running out of chloroquine, which presumably means that doctors are prescribing it to a lot more people in an unstrategic way. Good thing they’re all immune to malpractice if they’re treating Covid-19.

Whether or not the science is valid, the demand is real, and the price spike is real. So as a for-profit company whose responsibility lies to their shareholders, Kaiser would be liable in a lawsuit if they didn’t withold lupus treatments in favor of Covid treatments. They can get far more money that way.

Fucking Vultures. This is for-profit medicine in a nutshell.

As more information about the Marseilles study becomes known, it’s starting to paint an unflattering picture of the lead author Dr Raoult and his clinic.

Apparently he not only has a history of conducting shoddy trials that are not properly structured or randomized, he’s also been accused of falsifying data, an alleged sexual harasser (ETA: he was not accused directly but allegedly covered up multiple incidents in his lab while also working to get the accusers fired), a climate change denier, and a first class asshole

Indeed. The highly touted China “study” was rather inconclusive.

Should be a slam dunk for a malpractice attorney.

The reason Republicans banged on about “death panels” was that they were angry Obama might be horning in on their turf. Killing disadvantaged people is their raison d’etre.

So under the Republican Administration we now have corporate death panels?
I did not see this coming.
