I hope it’s another game of accent roulette like the first one. Christopher Lambert’s Peter Lorre impersonation was spot on.
Oh! Henry Cavill, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Seems unlikely the soundtrack will equal Queen.
I’m betting $5 now: there will be explosions of xXx scale, and the soundtrack will appeal most to people wearing tacticool outfits. And shortly after, some Q-nut will be arrested with a sword.
in the theater on opening night
Didn’t that happen today in Florida?
I saw Cavill so of course I pictured Dean Stockwell, which I found to be a wonderful choice for one brief little moment.
My partner had never seen the movie until last week. I told her she had to just to see Connery’s single best role. (Or at least, his second best costume.) The whole thing held up better than I had feared it might.
I spent the whole movie gobsmacked that sans swordplay and sneakers, Connor is very obviously the basis for almost every aspect of Castiel from Supernatural. Or am I just the last person to notice this obvious and well known thing?
Is that Judy Dench that somebody shop’d in there?
Sure is
First he was a Super, then he was a Witcher and now he’s a Highlander. What can’t he do?
…any of those?
LOL
Any of those well anyway.
You just know it’s going to be Queen songs… covered by young bubblegum pop artists. At the very least, the trailer will have a dark, dramatic, slowed down cover of a Queen song which wasn’t even on the original soundtrack sung by some sexy young lass in that “so sultry omg” style with the croaking fuckme breaths leading into every other line
fucking kill me before it comes to pass
Disney will be casting him as Han Solo and Wolverine in 3 … 2 …
After Zardoz?
Is it wrong that I’m kinda excited by this?
I like the Highlander franchise (urban fantasy, swords, history: all things that I enjoy) and the sequel movies have been so bad and non-canon in my head that I don’t have that usual feeling of “they’re going to taint the legacy” that comes with such announcements.
I’m not sold on his Holmes, to be fair. Way too beefcake and sensitive for how I envision the drug-addicted detective. As Superman, he’s perfect (even if the writing sucks). As Witcher, he was great. In general, I’m excited about seeing him as the Highlander, but who knows where this will fall in terms of writing, music, directing, secondary characters, etc. That first movie has lost much of its charm for me over the years, but I still can’t see Clancy Brown but think of the Kurgan and his wonderfully over-the-top scene work.
Franchise? No, you must be misremembering - they made one perfect action movie with an amazing soundtrack by Queen in 1986 and let it be without sullying it by following it up with sequels and TV series’
