Here are the ten worst movies of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes

Manos, The Room, Octaman, Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (either cut), and A Talking Cat?!!? are all worse than anything on that list

I too liked Ishtar. It was supposedly a copy of the Bing Crosby/ Bob Hope “On the Road” movies which had some funny parts,

… well, otherwise, surely the “worst ever” would all be student films that nobody has heard of

I wonder if this video store was inspired by that comic.

:joy: I was going to post that!

Wow! I had just been thinking of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and here you mention that.

My siblings and I saw this in the theater as kids and even as a dumb kid, I knew it was garbage.

For years after its release, we (perhaps only in the tri-state area???) would be treated to TV trailers announcing yet another Christmas showing of SCCtM, as if it was an annual classic on par with Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown. I and my buddies back then had never attended any showings (we sensed its cheesiness), but the trailer never failed to give us the annual opportunity to repurpose a certain phrase heard in the incomprehensible dialogue, repeating it as holiday greetings to each other: “Ah mer kimeh I do ehhh!” Even as little kids we were cognizant of the phrase’s strangeness and obscurity, so we only used it among ourselves.

And they even had the same director as the first film!

At least Mr. King had an excuse…

Wow, I actually managed to avoid all of these, except Highlander II, which I saw in the theaters on opening day without reading any reviews. It definitely deserves to be on the list.

I had forgotten that Nicolas Cage was in a “Left Behind” movie. He’s made some terrible, weird career choices, but that was the worst.

It was really amazing how they managed to retcon the first movie, but in a way where nothing made any sense at all (neither the sequel nor, retroactively, the original). If they had simply ignored the first movie altogether, it would have made more sense. (Actually, even calling it a retcon feels generous.)

I was somewhat amused to run across a snippet of some film on television shortly after seeing Highlander II that had an identical scene - and I realized that Highlander II had stolen it from the '80s Dolph Lundgren “Masters of the Universe” movie, which was terrible. Highlander II was so bad, they didn’t even aspire to rip off good movies.

And to think I’ve only seen three of these (1,2 &10).

So that’s the whole of next week sorted then.

Back when my friends and I used to see a movie every week, our 2 go-to movies for comparison (as in at-least-it’s-not-as-bad-as these) were Warlock 2: The Armageddon and Lawnmower Man 2. Both complete stinkers.

So, I’m not alone in that regard!

I have a steamy turd for you, which doesn’t count because it was too early for the internet. I saw this in the theater with a friend, because of his always poor taste in movies.

Yeah, that was some grade A turkey. Wonder how Howard the Duck avoided this list?

Add Birdemic and Samurai Cop to that list. Both I can only watch with the Rifftrax treatment.

And another vote for A Talking Cat!?!, which is a guilty pleasure of mine. But Manos, The Room, and Plan 9 (with honorable mentions to the above) have to top the absolute worst ever, regardless of criteria.
