I came up with this idea for part of a cyberpunk RPG campaign, just as a way to add some creepy atmosphere. Now real life is ripping me off!

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to discredit the very real dangers of plastic pollution, but did anyone else who has spent time on the coast find the video a tad overwrought?
I once stayed on an island off of Key West where someone had bought a bunch of those ‘decorative tourist’ shells and scattered them around the beach of this (seemingly) uninhabited island (known as Christmas Tree island to locals) and it was kind of delightful to watch them creeping around on their own once the hermit crabs took up residence. That’s what this video reminded me of.
