One of the few comforts available to fearful, small-minded people is the hope that they can make others as frightened and miserable as they are. The right-wing outside agitators who stirred them up know this and weaponised it in their own push for power. Thanks to Jackie Goldberg for describing this pack of bullies for what they are.
