…a Lady and a Gentleman?
Christ, what assholes!
Yeah, no change there.
Join me in my prayer to Great Cthulu that these two develop toenail fungus and enormous, painful hemorrhoids. We can do it, together.
It’s all fun and games until the real gangsters show up on your doorstep, explaining that they are going to take over the market. Drug dealers taking over the hand sanitizer market.
In the UK in WWII this would have been a criminal offence.
Other orders included maximum price controls to prevent businesses from profiteering.
In 1941, in Newcastle, the Blaydon District Industrial and Provident Society was fined £290 after it sold two pounds of apples for about £11 when the maximum price was £4.
It is from near the end of this long article about UK WWII restrictions and bad public behaviour.
capitalism has no vaccine.
Toilet paper down under:
shouldn’t costco be concidered complicit in this hoarding by allowing people to buy cartloads of items other people might need? how about some ‘1 per customer’ policies?
Given that Costco largely sells to schools, businesses, and other locations who legitimately need to buy cleaning supplies in massive quantities to clean surfaces and protect people, such a limit would not be in the best interest of the public. Technically, these profiteers are a business and would qualify.
The answer isn’t blanket rules, but targeting those who abuse them. A simple search of Amazon listings would be a place to start.
Wow. Gloating about taking advantage of people. I’m not saying it’s right but I wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of violence befell these people.
They’re like budget-version Pharma Bro.
i’ll start by saying that i’ve never been to a costco so i might have this completely wrong, but isn’t there a membership card necessary to make purchases? seems that it would be easy to differentiate between institutions and individuals. even easier when those individuals are going from store to store
You can purchase a business membership and these people probably have done so. They also probably buy large amounts of cleaner/sanitizer/soap on the regular as well if they’re flipping houses.
buying large amounts on the regular should be easily distinguishable from buying large amounts from multiple stores every day
Yeah, I was implying that these people would be familiar with what to buy and at what price and where to find it, making them ruthlessly efficient.
Pretty sure this is illegal in California right now, now that they’ve declared a state of emergency.
in every crisis, there will be those who emerge as heroes, and then there will be scumbags like these two.
This seems to be misreported everywhere. I mean, they’re still assholes but they key phrase is that “they’ve made $100,000 in SALES”, which is different than profit. It’s like the gambler who says they “won” $1000 at the casino but neglect to say that it cost them $1000 to do so.
