Man, there used be an elephant that came to the KC Ren Fair.
They always put the pickle merchant near by. You could buy a pickle, and while the elephant walked in circles giving rides, you held out your pickle and she (I think it was a girl) would take the pickle with her trunk and keep on walking! If you fed her several sometimes you got the sense she waved her trunk at you. (She waved her trunk, whether it was at you or not is up for interpretation.)

It’s tradition to feed bananas to temple elephants in India. So seen this a lot!
Yeah, it was probably waving to you - they wave, salute (bring their trunks up to their foreheads) and pat you on the head. But the temple elephants are trained to only do that if you pay them cash!
