I’m sure mom V much enjoyed seeing me - a disliker of coffee in gen’l - making such happy faces when I tried it. My brain said, “Wow! Coffee that’s not bitter!”
I don’t drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.
I don’t know how true it is these days in the States, but when my folks lived there in the Nineties, they used to say that if they wanted a guaranteed good cup of just black coffee, no matter what State they were travelling through, Maccy D’s of all places served the best.
They wouldn’t order anything else, but knew they could get a reliable cup of Joe.
Is that still the case?
Or indeed, was it ever the case, or do my parents just have really bad taste in coffee?
I’m a tea drinker; I used to drink instant coffee with sugar until I gave up smoking, when I found I was drinking too much of it to compensate, so I stopped.
So my experience of “decent” coffee is extremely limited, and I never got used to drinking it without sugar.
I don’t know, but I’ve heard people say that about Dunkin Donuts coffee.
Wouldn’t know my self, since the caffeine in coffee is too much for me. Just some green tea in the morning gets me going. If I’m extra groggy for some reason, I sometimes use coffee like the drug that it is; half a cup or so usually does the trick.
Yeah, I feel that.
I either drink Yorkshire tea, Chai or English Breakfast, black, no sugar. At work, I’ll drink 3-4 cups a day, stopping at 3PM, and if I’m at home, I’ll usually just have a cup in the morning to give me a kickstart.
More than that and I find my sleep suffers.
I did go completely caffeine free for over 10 years after giving up smoking, but started drinking tea again when I moved to London, and making cups of tea became something of a bonding ritual in our office.
And I’ve learned to appreciate the little mental kick it gives, something that I didn’t really notice as much when I was younger.
