If we ate bread the way we drank beer

How about babka? Brioche? Or good old banana bread?

I eat my bread the way I drink my beer, in public out of a paper bag.

Bread snobs are the worst.

I’m from Philly, so the pretzel part is correct. My wife will often stop on the way home and pick up a 12 pack, and it’s party time! We have stores that only sell pretzels.

I have friends who check to see if today’s the day I’ve made a loaf of bread, and then they come over to help me eat it. So, I guess I do have bread parties! (Small ones.)

I was going to make them, but the “eggs that need using” were hijacked to make lemon curd.

Now every morning just before breakfast
I don’t want no eggs or bacon
Just me and good buddy Sara Lee
That’s all I ever need
'Cause I eat alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I eat alone
I prefer to be by myself

I once had a toasted cheese sandwich party. Does that count?

Kvass can be surprisingly refreshing

And sometimes surprisingly not!

The kvass at the Russian groceries is too damned sweet. I just make my own these days

Wow - they look fantastic, like a variation on gougères.

Gougères are absolutely brilliant - they’re pretty close to fool-proof (even for a top-notch, high-caliber fool), but because they’re made of choux pastry everyone assumes they’re really difficult and that you’re a kitchen whiz.

I am fake gopnik. I’ve never actually had Kvass.

It’s easy to make and a very nice beverage.

This is a pretty standard recipe. I also add a handful or so of fresh mint, use a little less sugar, and use bale-top bottles
