Great price on chicken broth. The bonus buy savings on two? Not so much.

How my wife and I spent a portion of our Saturday night; a trip to Denver for dinner and some shows. This was our third year going. It was excellent fun, and we look forward to next year.

For those interested, I’m including the program – blurred for those who are not interested.

That’s inside the clock tower of Gemarke Church, where the Synod of the Confessing Church met in 1934, resulting in the Theological Declaration of Barmen. A key event in the formation of the Confessing Church, which opposed the intentions of the National Socialist German Christians.
Technically not the same church - it was destroyed in 1943 and rebuilt in 1955.
The church also houses a small museum; on the history of Protestantism in the Rhineland in general with the history of the declaration as a focal point, and a café.
The parish is a member of The Community of the Cross of Nails.
It also shares its grounds with the New Synagogue.

The first pictures were taken looking up from the museum through a skylight. The other pictures are, obviously, from inside the tower, looking down. There is some remodeling going on, but I don’t know what they’re up to. @anon15383236 is right, it does have quite the Escher vibe.

A couple of weeks ago I took a guided tour to four churches - one of the other three is the one where Friedrich Engels had his confirmation as a kid (but architecturally it’s unremarkable, so no interesting pics).

Angels- the most powerful and illuminating conduit known to us mere mortals. Seriously: if you need a daily reminder that angels “light the way,” you may as well be already doomed to eternal darkness. That pair of 60W bulbs in your guestroom doesn’t hold a candle to the eye-watering radiance of a real-life wing-flapping angel.
Angels are not cute. They are not quaint. If you’re lucky enough to encounter one you won’t know whether to cry or piss you pants.

Lynchian porn!

I don’t think I’m suave enough for that.

I see. Good point(s).
Still doesn’t explain the birdhouse, though.

Do they make light switches with pictures of the angels from Ezekiel?

Judging by a quick search on Amazon, it would appear not.

They do produce this little gem:

I’m not sure that when installed that image would really send the kind of religious message that’s presumably intended…

It ran a wide gamut, to be sure. The first one was hilarious though.

Hahahahaha… heh.

Halloween’s a commin’. If you are decorating your house, don’t forget to check the local “antique” malls. This is from the one across the street from us…

Of course, they are the same place that had this…

as well as this…

… so YMMV.

Oh my. If I could get a higher res version of that image, I would totally make it into a light plate. I would arrange it so that the switch matched perfectly with the scroll being handed down from the clouds.

Zombie Care Bear Angel?

… I think it sends a mixed message.

That reminds of back in the day, passing a display of Beanie Babies in a store. Some of the boxes had holes poked in the plastic. Those Beanie Babies were slumped over in the box.

It looked like some of them tried to escape, breached their confinement, and expired on contact with the outside air.

I’ve walked by the little sign in the botanic garden that says “kiwi” so many times and never realized they meant kiwi kiwi. Perhap this one had just never fruited before, but definitely a moment of “huh, so that’s how those grow…” for me & co.
