And hanging up is probably a bad idea, because police might eventually come to investigate the call, assuming whatever they want to assume.

Let’s not go suggesting more police funding. Give it to a subsidized ambulance service ffs. Cops show up and shoot the victim

911 is not usually operated by police departments, and dispatches a number of different emergency services.

New version of that old saw: “When seconds count, 911 will leave you on hold for ten minutes.” This goes along with: “When seconds count, the cops will politely wait for your murderer to finish”; and “When seconds count, the police will hold back anyone trying to come to your rescue;” and “When seconds count, the dispatcher will call you a liar and hang up on you.”
