These are all fair points and you’re right that I should have been less judgmental in my initial post. Thanks for not meeting my boneheadedness with bile and calling me out kindly.
Now that we have that out of the way, how about posting some videos!
I never “got” the aquabats growing up, but was still happy to see them be successful. So my wife and I just wandered over to see them in passing at riot fest last year, and man, I don’t listen to them, not my jam, but live, that is the funniest, funnest positive stuff. It was amazing. Pizza rain. Kids on stage. Definitely a must to see on tour.
You can’t get out of here without some Negativland. Here’s their first:
I really liked Godflesh. When I was young I even asked to a friend who travelled to USA to bring me a copy of their album called PURE.
It doesn´t sound like pop music, but I think kids nowadys will call it plain stupid…
The above conversation with @xhonk reminded me of this song…
My favorite ATR song has always been:
Each song on the Spawn soundtrack were made with odd band pairings.
The Crystal Method and Filter
Marilyn Manson and Sneaker Pimps
Orbital and Kirk Hammett
Korn and The Dust Brothers
Butthole Surfers and Moby
Metallica and DJ Spooky
Stabbing Westward, Josh Wink
Mansun and 808 State
The Prodigy and Tom Morello
Silverchair and Vitro
Henry Rollins and Goldie
Incubus and DJ Greyboy
Slayer and Atari Teenage Riot
Soul Coughing and Roni Size
Came for this… not disappointed.
If I want some alone time from the s.o., I can just put this on. (Whole album on the youtube.)
I don’t have a copy of it any more, but EN’s Haus der Luge was a good one as well…
Back in the day, Streetcleaner was my go to music when playing video games.
Gawdamn, Laibach’s cover of Let It Be (minus the song “Let It Be”) is one of my favs.
I eventually still play my copy of the album Pure.
A sweet rando kid gave me a copy of Too Dark Park in the Lake Merritt BART station in the mid 90s as I was all gothed out in lace dress and bird-skull necklace on the way to a dear friend’s wedding. “You’re going dressed like that?!”
Rando kid I still think of you!
Sneaking the Funhouse album on at top volume was a good litmus test of who I was going to hang with at a party. I suppose it still is, but I’m not that rude these days. It still caves my head in though.
And the recently released an album of covers from The Sound of Music, after their 2015 trip to N. Korea… one of the only films North Korean citizens are allowed to watch…
Weirdly enough, both are true for me! Coincidence! But yeah, it’s another great album.
