My dog picked up an edible on a walk (how???). He did not die, but living out the symptoms was very painful and sad.
Before the vet gave the diagnosis, he asked, “Do you have any weed in the house?”. His response to my negative answer was, “Riiiiiigggght, well this dog is high”.
So, basically, I’m re-enforcing your point that tying pain (real, for the pet), and consequences (for the owner), are emotionally satisfying, but not all the practical or helpful.
How? Because only users lose drugs, that’s how.
