ISS crew Soyuz launch safely aborts to Kazakhstan


I wonder what treaties Russia has with Kazakhstan over things like this, or did they bother asking?


That’s where the launch site is:


The cosmodrome is there, grandfathered in from the USSR, but they’d be scrambling a lot of military planes and helicopters.

I guess the only question for Kazakhstan would be to help or keep out of the way.


I have to figure that’s built into the contingency plans. Now, as for whether they (Kazakhstan) would ever expect that…
