"It hurts to breathe": Sick Florida anti-vaxxer waits in 2-hour line, hoping for Regeneron

It can help lessen the spread of Covid to others.

I think the idea is to keep the disease :microbe: to yourself and mitigate the chances of spreading Covid/Delta. Just say’n…

Good thing we don’t have that terrible socialist public healthcare system. Otherwise we might be rationing care, people might be waiting in lines unable to receive critical treatment.

It’s experimental yes. But it’s the antibody treatment that you’ve heard about that’s as of yet the most effective, and kind of only treatment we’ve got going.

It’s basically antibodies derived from cloned white blood cells, and the approach is based in cancer treatments that have been in clinical trials.

It’s operating under the same sort of emergency use authorization as the vaccines, and has been in clinical trials for a while.

There’s some douche baggery around when that authorization happened to be issued (curiously close to Trump getting sick). But it has shown results in the data, better results than anything else we’ve got going.

It’s definitely made with science, science based, and an actual treatment. Focusing on the not yet approved, emergency authorization to make it sound illegitimate is the same thing people have been doing to smear the vaccines.

We really need to change the narrative here from one of you asked for it to this is the result of you being manipulated by those who seek power and control into following them down a path of self destruction.
That is the message that needs to be resonating.

There is one valid reason

The difference is that most needlephobes will try again if they fail to get vaccinated, while antivaxxers won’t try at all.

Am I suppose to feel sorry for her?
She made a choice .
She did not get vaccinated and then got sick.
So she has to wait to be seen by the Hospital .
It was her choice.
She should not be complaining about the results.

I hate needles too.
It was shaking when they gave me the vaccine .
But I got the shot .

Forging parental consemt is easy af you live with them.

I should have added the /s. I was lightly mocking those who have refused vaccination because the vaccine is “experimental,” but are happy to take Regeneran despite it having the same status (up until yesterday). But thank you for the break down in case anyone else wasn’t aware of its status.

I’m kinda a baby when it comes to needles. Especially blood draws. But it is mostly me psyching myself out. It is never as bad as I worried it would be.

The difference between a blood draw and vaccine poke is, the poke is way quicker with a smaller needle. If you are really phobic, maybe see if you can get a pediatrician. I have seen them do vaccine jabs on babies and kids and zero tears. They are like magicians with misdirection and distraction and deft movement.

FWIW, both my pokes didn’t hurt at all. Just a sore arm later.

FAFO. Hopefully they’ll find out before they spread it to someone who cannot get the vaccine.

Did they ask her if Jesus could get her admitted any faster?
Did they ask her if Trump could get her admitted any faster?
Did they ask her if Rupert Murdoch could get her admitted any faster?
Did they ask her if Ron DeSantis could get her admitted any faster?

It is not. It is ideology that is stopping them. Let’s not forget that part of the reason why the former administration did not do a national response to the pandemic (and politicized it) was because they saw that it was hitting blue enclaves and communities of color the hardest at the time. They figured they’d let the pandemic rip through those communities, decimate the Democratic constituency, and come out on top. They then used the right wing mediascape to politicize the pandemic so that they could ensure a win in 2020… quite a lot of us v. them propaganda was deployed which captures hearts and minds, sadly.

The more we dismiss people like this as merely “stupid”, we continue to ignore the actual problem we have with authoritarian politics in our country.

The question is whether or not people will accept that reality. Much like being called “stupid”, people don’t want to be seen as having less than full agency. Most would just consider that being called “stupid”. :woman_shrugging:

Many of these households are strict, authoritarian-minded types, where the parent is the ultimate authority and challenging that authority can have severe consequences.

I’m pretty terrified of needles. Ended up in a job that revolved around nothing but blood and needles. It was a running joke amongst my peers.

Got the shot literally the day I could, and I even give blood every 3 to 4 months, closing my eyes and trying to will my arm to detach while going in. Because both of these are bigger and more important than me and my fear.

That’s great for you, but the people getting on their high horses about how they were scared and got the jab isn’t particularly helpful for others.

That’s a little soon, although it may come to that. Delta was first spotted December 2020, just as the first vaccinations started rolling out.

They are providing an easy conduit for the spread of Delta.

Just shy of 2 years Americans have been told that wearing a mask will help you and others. Vaccine has been widely available for about 1 year. If by now you have chosen to ignore the first and declined the jab, time to take that oft talked about “personal responsibility “ for your shitty decisions and the consequences that befell you.
