What could possibly go wrong?
Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to get a bunch of dogs?
And the inevitable follow-up headline: “Japanese town enlists bears to protect them from terrifying robot wolves”.
“So far as we know. No one’s been brave enough to go outside with those damned things wandering about.”
I can’t help but wonder how long it’ll take before the bears figure out these robots don’t chase anything. I’ve seen fake owls fail for this reason - even mechanical ones.
There’s a “bear who cried wolf” parable in here somewhere.
How long until the gorillas?
Sounds like a good premise for an Anime.
It will cost more; but Boston Dynamics could probably provide something that fits the costume pretty well and chases enthusiastically.
Not sure if they do euthenic autoinjectors on export models…
Cue the wolves in heat who will try anything to mate with these robo-wolves, knocking out their electronics in the process.
