He was a Cambridge, MA born saxophonist as well. Makes me wonder when (and if) he gave up his US citizenship. He could have run for President – King of Thailand and President of the US.

He had a dog named Air Chief Marshal Foo Foo , who was an actual Air Chief Marshal.
He was also a Marine Engineer and held a number of patents in his own name
I want to say that, now that I’m thinking about it, I remember this being mentioned in Penny Von Eschen’s book about the jazz tours…
