A better, non violent alternative.
Go back to 1919. Befriend Hitler. Help him find a nice job, and match him up with a kind hearted fraulien. Maybe convince them to emigrate to England or the USA, or at least stay in Austria. Basically help him settle into a peaceful life. Everyone lives. Even Hitler ends up happy.
BTW, my mother’s parents were a Russian and a Pole who met in on a slave farm, and then emigrated to Australia after the war. So I wouldn’t be me either.

Well, considering that it was the Spanish flu which ended the war, not really America’s entry into the war (we got just a bogged down as everyone else), maybe that’s what needed to be changed. So, time travelers, head on back with some flu vaccine, and all is good!

Why does everyone want to go back in time and kill Hitler? How come nobody wants to go back and help him get through art school? Or get some therapy? Just sayin.

In point of fact, no one did anything about Hitler until he started declaring war on his neighbors (and non-neighbors like the USA).
If he’d just killed the Jews, gypsies, gays, and Jehovah’s Witnesses within German borders, the rest of the world would have done as much to stop that as they did to stop Pol Pot, Mao, and Stalin.
My alternate history goal would be to avoid creating a Germany that felt it had to get revenge for the screwjob it suffered in 1919.
