With all due respect to professor Chomsky, a man whose writings I always found compelling even when I didn’t entirely agree with them:

Fuck you.

Anyone who has spent this many decades writing about how inherent conflicts of interest have corrupted our government and economic systems doesn’t get to play the “it’s none of your business who I hang out with or solicit donations from” card.

Suspicion about Epstein having ongoing connections to intelligence services don’t seem too absurd. Multiple passports in different identities. Reported suspicions of how he obtained his fortune, etc.

They’re always looking for a guy who can set up a honey pot for high value operators.

Can we stop with the purity tests now. Nobody is perfect.

We need to get back to the idea of professionalism, and stop looking for virgin saviors.

No. Nobody gets to touch kids like that or hang out with those who pimp them without consequences.

Right!? Some shit needs to be unacceptable and those with any part in it need to be held accountable even if it hurts.

Absolutely, 100%.

You really think that Chomsky was raping children on a plane?

Meh. Epstein’s clientele were largely the rich and idle. People who lack the wherewithal and connections to use organized criminal networks for their commercial sexual needs. His phone contact list was published to the public. It was largely uninspiring.

Governments have access and leverage with organized criminal networks. They wouldn’t need nor be able to effectively control someone like him.

A cut out. Not an employee. And who knows what all of those contacts were? You don’t use your real name and it’s a burner number.

He gives access to people who wouldn’t associate with organized crime.

That wasn’t anything like what she said.

I wrote just two lines, try reading them again instead of making shit up.

You really think answering, “…it is none of your business” is an acceptable reply when asked about Chomksy’s close relationship with a convicted child rapist?

He’s an educated person who has been known to give interviews. He should have replied with a strong denial showing concern for the underaged victims. Empathetic people tend to do this.

A lot of anarchists and libertarian-socialists don’t respect Chomsky any more because he isn’t who he used to be, and seems to be more of a moderate (as in somewhere between Republicans and Democrats) on a lot of issues that affect people under 50. This latest news makes things far worse for him.

Associating with a human trafficker and rapist isn’t a purity test. It’s a sign of character.

Frankly I thought Chomsky falls in the same category as Alan Dershowitz. An academic who had a disturbing habit of occasionally defending the reprehensible and acted as if he believed his own press.

The other category to which Chomsky and Dershowitz both belong is associates of Jeffrey Epstein.

Organized criminals can be leveraged and controlled. They always have some troubles with authorities they need to go away. They also have means of keeping associates in line. Keep them from blabbing. I sincerely doubt Epstein had that kind of pull.

Which is why I am not surprised about this story.

Look into allegations about how Epstein originally got his money.

And they certainly had enough dirt on him to influence him. Additionally- he certainly looked like he was being protected from on high.

ETA:

Acosta later said he offered a lenient plea deal because he was told that Epstein “belonged to intelligence”, was “above his pay grade” and to “leave it alone”.
