Whenever I am feeling angry about Nat-C’s and their abhorrent views and behaviors, I remind myself that Jimmy Carter is also a Christian and the very embodiment of Christ’s message.
May he continue to be a shining example to all.
What is Carter waiting for? I’ve already voted in Maryland. They don’t have vote by mail or early voting in GA?
There’s always a reason to hang on: right now, it’s to vote for Harris. Next, to watch her inauguration. After that, vote in her reelection, watch her second inauguration, then vote for Walz, then….
We have vote by mail in New Jersey, but ballots haven’t been sent out yet. Each state has its own schedule.
ETA: According to the Google Machine, early voting in Georgia starts Oct 15.
ETA pt. deux: I got my ballot in the mail yesterday, lol.
In a world where people abuse/ignore everything that Christ was supposed to represent, Jimmy Carter actually walks the walk, as did Rosalyn.
Early voting starts October 15th.

First president I remember being in office as a kid… probably 7 years old, 2nd grade. And specifically, that we would pull our lips extra wide and try to fake a southern drawl with these words exactly:
“mah, name is Jimmae Cahtah”
I also remember liking him and being bummed when Reagan won.
To paraphrase one of my favorite characters from the Dresden Files series of books: President Carter isn’t the Carpenter who set the standard, but through his work with Habitat for Humanity I think he’s still a pretty good carpenter. Happy birthday!
And many happy returns!
first president i could vote for and happily did so (and then reagan won. -sigh-)
Happy HAPPY Birthday President Carter! definitely one of the good ones!
Not the greatest President (although the Congress of the day holds a lot of blame there - heavy GOP opposition and not a lot of support from his own party), but very probably the greatest person to ever be President.
I watched this documentary on a recent flight. It’s an interesting part of Carter’s presidency:
I’m a native Georgian, and was a year shy of being old enough to vote for him in 1980. So sad when he lost. Reagan should have woken up every day thanking Carter for appointing Paul Volcker to the Fed.
Oh, and if you like microbrews/microbreweries, hoist a hoppy IPA today to Carter’s health for deregulating home beer brewing.
What a fucking mensch.
