I think he made like 50 million dollars just in February. Someone will have to double-check off the top of my head here but, I think I’m pretty close on that estimate.
And spent it.
Running a primary campaign ain’t cheap.

You’re off by a factor of ten, BTW.
If Bernie’s still in the race when my state gets its primary, I’ll still vote for Sanders. If he’s out of it, I’ll make a faint hearted cheer, because I will be able to write in a vote for Warren.
You think the progressive movement is defined by Sanders? Get over yourself. It’s a movement, not a man. If you want to worship him, do so in private. Meanwhile, the progressive movement will move on.
We have an outside chance of trump dying of Coronavirus, otherwise Biden will lose worse than Clinton. Biden is a weaker and more vulnerable choice even than Clinton was, and Trump is stronger now than he was before. It will play out the same but worse.
I don’t worship Sanders but, I’m not naive enough to think Biden will be a vehicle for progressive policies. Someone like Biden will say one thing and do another. He’s flip flopped on everything from abortion to gay marriage multiple times because it gained him points politically.
i was talking more his current bank account. granted, i’m not a campaign manager and i have no idea how much cash on hand there is
oto, contrary to what i was saying, it might make more sense ( cents even ) for the campaigns to keep going and raising money, rather than letting 45 completely control the airwaves and fund-raising in the meantime
laws of unintended consequences and all
The intelligence agencies put out the (silly) story that Russia was supporting Bernie. That made a difference with some low-information voters.
Again, Trump is certainly an a-hole and says outrageous things.
Bush got thousands killed for a lie then made a joke about it at the Correspondents Dinner.
For a quick snapshot at the character of George Bush:
"Former president George W. Bush charged a veterans’ charity $100,000 to speak at a fundraiser in 2012.
The former commander in chief was also provided with a private plane to fly to the event, which cost another $20,000…
Bush spoke at a benefit for Helping a Hero, a nonprofit group that aids “severely wounded veterans returning from service in the War on Terror, primarily by partnering with the wounded hero to provide specially adapted homes to reintegrate them into their community… The organization benefits many veterans who were injured fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq that Bush authorized."
America, you had an opportunity to elect the potentially only decent president since Roosevelt, and you blew it. The cycle of stupidity and avarice will continue. Well fucking done.
And Trump has done multiple rallies in which he’s said he will pay back the cities he goes to but, then hasn’t payed for multiple events that not only use cities/towns resources but, then leave all the trash and waste behind.
Some of the cities that the Trump campaign has outstanding invoices from include:
- El Paso, Texas: $569,000 for a February rally
- Minneapolis, Minnesota: $530,000 for an October 10 rally
- Albuquerque, New Mexico: $211,000 for an October rally
- Tucson, Arizona: $82,000 for a March 2016 rally
- Spokane, Washington: $65,000 for a May 2016 rally
You write “Nobody is arguing that Bush was a fucking terrible war criminal…”
I assume this may have been a typo and you may have meant to write “nobody is arguing that Bush wasn’t a fucking terrible war criminal…”
Unfortunately there are a lot of people trying to whitewash the Bush / Cheney years. (Not saying you are one).
Especially disturbing is that a lot of the nostalgia is driven by warmongers annoyed that Trump hasnt expanded their endless wars. So they whitewash the horrors of Bush / Cheney by focusing on Trump’s assholery. If Trump would just play by their rules and ffs just invade someone they’d change their tune.
Trump certainly sucks.
Meanwhile Bush had appointed a crony with no experience to head FEMA, so when Katrina hit, the lack of experience led to a much greater disaster.
There’s none of that happening here.
Maybe Biden can do the same
In November we get to decide if it is cruel to force a sick old man to work a full time job for the next four years, or if we’d rather light the Constitution on fire.
My hard won right to vote is going to feel more like an ominous chore than a proud civic duty this time around.
Yep, and it doesn’t hurt that the Repub. media machine is spewing out the “Bernie’s a communist” bs. The average USA resident has neither the intelligence nor the patience to listen or understand an argument on why that’s a BS statement.
Or just instantly shift to McCarthyism and claim you’re a communist for trying to explain to them the differences.
I would have thought that was a pretty sure thing until recently, but if Trump fucks to the coronavirus response badly enough, it could change that.
I want to point out that the actual black voters seem to prefer Biden to Sanders, so maybe little less of that slavery rhetoric, eh?
Also, the polling still says Biden’s winning against Trump, so let’s not have leftist disappointment drive people to despair.
Yesterday Biden had a 96 delegate lead
Now Biden has a 160 delegate lead
No need to start planning anybody’s inauguration party just yet
