…
one of my cats is sitting on my lap, watching the cat, watching the people make dough. everyone is happy.
A friend of mine had a one legged cockatiel (lost the other leg to cancer), who perched on the edge of a bowl filled with cake batter, and fell in. My friend baked the cake, figuring that any germs would be killed in the process, but she did say that they picked a few feathers out of their teeth when they ate the cake and the bird was pulling dried cake batter out of its feathers for a week or two.
This looks like a perfect activity to do with a cat on your lap (she said about almost everything, always!).
Origin of the great meal time tradition, “Find the cat hair in the dumpling.”
Cats are the best quality control when you’re kneading dough. They’re experts.
It doesn’t get any better than this. 'Baachan’s dumplings and a little katsuo-bushi for Mr Piebald beats icing on the cake every time.
