Replacing Biden as this date would guarantee a victory for Trump. The date has passed for some states to change the ballot for November. Nevada probably will not allow for Biden to be removed from the ballot. How do you like them odds?

I understand why she said what she said, but I wish she had said something more like: That’s a ridiculous question. As Vice President, I am always ready to lead the country if necessary. Period.

I’m surprised that’s the case since he hasn’t even been officially designated as the party’s nominee yet. Nevada puts irrevocable names on ballots months before the party conventions? How does that work when the parties don’t even have a presumptive nominee yet? Weird.

I’m not sure they are thinking it through that much. Only that keeping it close is good for business, and since Il Douche is a walking shit stain, they need to clean him up and beat Biden down to make it “more even.” And do so under the cover of “being objective and even-handed,” which is utter bullshit. The end result, though, is absolutely supporting a fascist takeover of the country. Because they think it will be good for business.

I don’t think that Abramson is saying this should happen, I think he’s saying that the media is trying to make it happen (replace Biden, I mean). I think it’s a criticism of the media, not of Biden…

if you were a smart billionaire in charge of a media empire I think you probably would think about it, report on it quarterly, and investigate all legal options that might open up to you in a different environment.
Fox’s gig is easy. State media pays best because you can just take the money from the people to tell them what you get paid to tell them without having to hire people who go to school to ask questions about things.
Hire hawk tuah girl to tell the dumbasses that abandoned oil wells aren’t a safety hazard and shake some pasties over a couple of guns. Report the “facts” you get from the white house and your stable of good friends and business partners and always stay on script. Cheaper and more profitable than journalism.

Yes, he says in the thread that if Biden steps aside the Democrats will tear themselves apart and Trump will win. Meanwhile the corporate media will profit from all the “chaos and turmoil” – until Trump takes power and “shuts it down”.

Yeah, maybe, but I think he’s trying to warn people about what’s happening rather than just random fear-mongering for clicks… It does feel apocalyptic, what’s been happening. I feel like I’m (and all of us) are being gaslit by corporate media. We can all see what’s happening and we’re being told, that the REAL problem is still the Democrats… And I know most of us here are pretty media savvy and generally thoughtful about this stuff, but lots of people just… aren’t. And whatever side of the political spectrum they’re on, they will likely believe that the real problem IS Biden being old, and that the coup that just happened with SCOTUS is just noise…
Antonio Gramsci’s greatest contribution to the discourse is the concept of hegemony and the crafting of common sense by the ruling elites. That they try and take a particular ideology (captialism, etc) and make it “common sense” and that anyone who deviates is just either a weirdo or actively hostile to society. They are not “normal” and outsiders to be shunned. We’re seeing this process play out in real time, me thinks. It’s fucking scary to see that people might just fall for it.

Well, his bio is here.
I don’t know him, but have seen him online and focused on media for quite a while.
The piece seems to be saying that the media is doing something very odd here, and points to some things.
But agreed on the hot take and media focus. Yet I found the piece interesting. He gives some context in the piece and also teases what he says may be a plan. Who knows. But in any event, I wouldn’t discount him just based on his credentials. They’re pretty solid….as an observer of the media.

So far as I can tell it’s a confused meme from a pride event about a straight girl who spits on penises to fellate them and now she’s a folk hero for it but also not because she unfortunately said she wouldn’t fellate Trump while she was getting famous off of people’s borderline relationship with female bodies in the media and… I’m tired now boss can I go home?
