Kanye West escorted out of Skechers HQ after turning up uninvited

And presenting it that way has its roots in systemic racism; “Black people are slow and childlike, which is why they ‘need’ their masters and the structure of slavery.”

(Yeah, that was a real argument in favor of slavery in the antebellum South.)

He’s a grown ass man that has more money and influence than i’ll ever have. He doesn’t need anyone defending or apologizing for him. He’s clearly unwilling to change for anyone including his family and kids.

Apparently he expected them to say “Wow, the guy whose antisemitism is so out of control he’s losing all his sponsors? The one white supremacists are saying is right on? The man no company in their right mind would want to touch with a 10 foot pole, especially at this particular moment? Of course we’ll partner with you, what an honor!”

To any reasonable person, this level of rejection just might serve as a wake-up call and a prompt for some self-reflection. Somehow I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen here.

Sketchers makes some of my favorite shoes. They are my go to for the last 20 years or so. I get the laces less models. Other than dress shoes, I haven’t tied laces since then. It is all Sketches and Chelsea style boots. So glad they showed him the door.

Good thing he has more money than many small countries, and has an entire entourage of people with a vested interest in making sure he keeps the money train on time.

He’s not some destitute vagrant yelling at clouds and trying to get some spare change outside a 7-11, he’s a very wealthy and ostensibly intelligent person with lots of people propping him up. If he wanted help, he’d have a whole support system at his feet.

This kind of hand wavey “but he’s mentally ill” defense I keep hearing is an insult to people who struggle with mental illness and don’t have even a fraction of what’s available to him for help. The sad thing is no matter what he does, he’s become such a hero of the far right that he’ll fall on his feet no matter how far he sinks.

Perhaps he thought that he could launder his reputation somehow. “Look, some of my brand partners are Jewish!”

So right now the other Ye story at the top of BoingBoing is that he is in fact a fan of Hitler and his work. Let me put that into a noun: he has not just been encouraging Nazis, he is a Nazi, and has been for a while now.

Yeah, right-wing grifters tend to devour their own, but let’s stop imagining he is something separate from them. Nazis don’t deserve excuses. They deserve being stopped before they can hurt people.

Corporate Speak: “We condemn Mr. Ye’s divisive and unfortunate remarks. We stand for diversity and inclusivity.”

Corporate Action: (shoveling money to GOP candidates who say pretty much the same shit)

Just not aloud, while in ‘polite company.’

That’s the difference.

Yeah. We need to consign false-consciousness excuses to the dustbin of history. If he needs any sort of care, then I hope he gets it. But being a raging bigoted kapo asshole isn’t a medical condition.
