Kavanaugh's weeping, shouting, and blaming is classic DARVO behavior

THE SHEEP LIE!!!

I’ve been feeling the same since Trump got nominated. I didn’t even think about leaving the country after he got elected (not that it’s practical/possible, really). I just started feeling like, “this shit is going to kill me, so I suppose I should go down fighting.” More likely the stress is going to do me first, though.

Yeah, that massive debt that mysteriously got paid off doesn’t bode well. I also rather suspect his time in the Bush admin is filled with justifications for torture and rampant violation of civil rights. That’s not even getting into his personal life, which is probably shitty as hell.

I’d say going on an angry counter-attack is a pretty strong sign of guilt - either that or a personality disorder.

I bet she has some thoughts on that…

You’re right, Dr. Ford’s testimony convinced me that she was assaulted; Kavanaugh’s testimony convinced me that he’s the one who did it. He’s lying through his teeth.

Also, if this was a criminal trial, I believe that his previous lies under oath would be admissible. So they could establish that he’s not credible.

Yeah. Though who knows how much she’s experienced - people compartmentalize. Look at various serial rapists/murderers with spouses who had no clue about their “other life.” I find it impossible to believe that level of misogyny doesn’t bleed out into all their intimate relationships, but conservative culture has normalized staggering levels of misogyny, so many women think nothing of it. That’s just how they think things “should” be.
I look at my aunt who, based on her marriage and those of her conservative friends, believes that having a husband who treats you like an equal human being is a rare and magical thing - a unicorn basically - that you can’t hope to personally experience.

Yeah, that was exactly my feeling. To me, she was always credible, but it wasn’t until I heard him speak that I thought, “Shit, it really was him, wasn’t it?”

Well my main point is that unlike a criminal trial, we don’t have any need whatsoever to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that he did it. We don’t even have to believe that there is a preponderance of evidence (the lesser standard used in civil trials) But his evasion and dissembling on his drinking and its effects on him, as well as the way he intentionally and repeatedly miss characterized the statements of others establish that he should NOT get a lifetime appointment to the supreme court, or indeed, remain in his current lifetime appointment as a federal appeals court judge. He has neither the temperament or the honesty that we should want for those in such a position. It doesn’t MATTER whether he did this or not. We now have a better view of who he is.

My view here isn’t based on his politics or likely rulings. I certainly disagree with Roberts on many subjects, but I do think that he has the collegial nature that suits him to the court. Kavanaugh on the other hand appears to be an easily angered liar, that sees everything through a partisan lens. The supreme court will be diminished by his presence.

Men have excluded women from politics for centuries. I don’t think anyone would be harmed, and much would be gained, if the tables were turned and only women were allowed high public office. Give it a generation or so before men were slowly, gradually allowed back into the mix.

It seems anything less is just going to give us more of the same.

They want to delay the vote. They don’t really think an FBI investigation would turn up anything their investigators have not.
But they want to delay the vote by any means, and they have been doing so.
Also- Kafka. Only a guilty person would angrily and tearfully deny their guilt.

This is a great point. Whatever the truth behind the accusations do we really want someone who can’t keep their shit together sitting on the bench for life?

Sounds great, how do we get there? Oh, I know! First, we have to eradicate internalized misogyny, otherwise, we’ll get the same damned shitty governance that we currently have. Second, ensure Gerrymandering is a terrible ghost of the past. Third, maybe we have to disenfranchise white men. Maybe. They might not like that.

Hmmm, sounds as possible as a snow white unicorn. :slightly_frowning_face: But, I get where you’re coming from.

Damn!

And so you wonder ,“Why the fuck are you fucking crying?” And then it hits you: Oh yeah. He’s never felt this before. He doesn’t know what it feels like. This thing he’s experiencing now—this disappointment, this fear, this shame, this doubt—is new to him.

And then, before the tears dry up, you grab a cup.

Perspective: Kavanaugh lacks it.

And it looks like Ford had a much higher number of questions, too. For Kavanaugh it was basically a victory lap with some fragile white male rage thrown in for good measure.

“They” didn’t even want to hear from the other alleged victims or any other corroborating witnesses. What in God’s name makes you think they give half of a single shit about conducting a thorough investigation?

If they truly wanted a thorough investigation they also wouldn’t set an artificial one week time limit or push him through committee.

Not exactly sure what you mean by this, but I dig it anyway
