Kentucky's ex-governor Matt Bevin defends pardon of child rapist by claiming 9-year-old girl had 'intact hymen' and 'she made it up'

This ass, and Gaetz really make me ashamed to have the same first name.

Yabbut, those same folks would say that a man raping a man would be even more horrifying. Since, you know, buttsex.

Bevin’s claim was also dismissed by Dr George Nichols, the former chief medical examiner in Kentucky and founder of the child abuse evaluation system at a children’s hospital. Mr Nichols told the Courier Journal Mr Bevin is not only ignorant of the law, but “clearly doesn’t medicine and anatomy” either.

He added: “I worked for six consecutive governors as chief medical examiner and fortunately I didn’t have to report to that asshole.”

Priceless.

There’s no good reason for the GOP not to kick Bevin out of the party. None.
And being a party of abominable scumbags selling out the nation (to put it civilly) is not a good reason.
The entire party is thoroughly rotten.

What do you expect from a right-wing GOP creep?

I mean, honestly, not this. This is a completely bizarre, out-of-left-field move.

It’s possible Bevin is a true believer in some conspiracy of convicting men of rapes they didn’t commit, I guess, but usually people from that group focus more on high profile cases that weren’t convicted, and not on gang rapes of teenage boys caught on tape.

I wondered if this was just a big “fuck you” to the state to voting against Bevin.

Somewhere I saw a denial by Bevin that this had anything to do with rich donors. From that I’m assuming that some of these pardons were done to let go relatives of rich donors and that (maybe?) some others were done to make sure the headline wasn’t about the corrupt release of donors’ relatives? That’s a kind of Machiavellian extreme that very few people are capable of, but I see a headline the FBI is looking into political favouritism so maybe this really is it (I doubt all of the rapists and murderers are children of wealthy donors).

I guess it could also be a mix of all of those plus other reasons. I just felt this particular act seemed very flummoxing from an understanding why other people do the things they do perspective (and, obviously, enraging from a “what a piece of shit” perspective).

This being the dumbest timeline, it probably was an attempt to cover his tracks when pardoning political donors’ family members, but since at least one of them was also one of the egregiously obscene criminals whose pardoning generated severe moral outrage, the attempt was ham-handed at best.

Besides that, this seems like the logical next step for a party that produces people like Todd “legitimate rape” Aiken and whichever creepazoid asshole was on TV that same cycle talking about holding aspirins between your knees to prevent pregnancy. It’s the natural end-point for all of this “fake rape” rhetoric, that no weight of evidence is ever overwhelming enough, that women—and even girls—will make it up to hurt men because reasons. A fundamental lack of understanding about any sort of biological processes, especially as it pertains to reproduction, is a key building block of the Republican party, and this is the result: a nine-year-old faked a rape accusation because “her hymen was intact”.
