One of the things McCarthy and the Republicans are trying to force Biden and the Dems to do is drop funding for the IRS even though a bipartisan budget analysis showed that spending would significantly reduce the deficit by bringing in more revenue. According to Republicans cheating on taxes is patriotic.

Well, in all fairness, the Boston Tea Party was in large part a protest against lowered taxes. So, tax-logic isn’t exactly Americans’ strong suit.

Well, I could follow that, he’s playing it all up kinda weirdly, emoting too much, trying to be all friendly with the press. If you typed it up as text it would sound like word-salad.
Which is not to defend the guy, he’s trying to force through some perverted political agenda instead of actually helping the mass of Americans, because GOP dogma is more important to them than actual observable, measurable reality. Being all jovial about it just shows how uncaring he really is.

Plus, it is the only leverage he has. His own caucus sees him as a useful idiot clown that they can bully around and no one else can even pretend that they respect him. The debt ceiling fight is just about his only chance to “lead” a public confrontation with the White House.

Right now, many people ages 18-50 who rely on food stamps are subject to work reporting requirements. McCarthy is looking to raise that age range to 56.
Speaking in tongues might just fake them out for a while at least. There is just so much destruction in his plan for all walks of Americans. Except for the rich ones.
