Last year I finally sat down and watched all of Key and Peele and found it excellent sketch comedy! You can also see Peele’s love of horror in many of them.

The whole “sports is a way out” bit is funny in JR Rowling’s universe, where the only wizard sport revolves around broomsticks where performance is entirely dependent on how much one spends on them. I mean, she explicitly said that broom speed and agility (the basis for the sport) varied based on the cost of the broom…

I need to get around to doing that. I only ever watched the first episode and it was gold (the skit where they claim to one another to have called their partner’s “bitches” to their face is incredible). Not sure why I didn’t watch more. It’s probably on one streaming service or another.

Hogwarts is similar to a UK inner city school as in the UK the wealthy live in city centres and the less well off live in the suburbs.
This is “Saggitariutt Jefferspin” and “Hingle McCringleberry” levels of inspiration.

Comedy Central ANZ has some great Key&Peele videos (including Inner-city Wizard School) and those videos work in some other countries as well.
