Sure. It’s possible that he was kidnapped. On the other hand that same book (which I’ve read) mentions that a key reason why Shin decided to move to the US after his escape from North Korea is that the South Korean authorities were skeptical about the kidnapping story. Because there was no evidence whatsoever.
Is there a reason why most of the discussion in a thread about Kim Jong-Un’s current medical state is instead about an incident from over 40 years ago?
