When a cat shows its belly, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it wants to be touched there. In cat language, it’s more a sign of trust (that you won’t bite or otherwise attack them in that vulnerable place.)
I imagine that it would be like leaving my wallet out on the table when I’m with a trusted friend. If they grab it and start going through it, I would be miffed and not sure if they’re just playing or if they’re being a dick. If they continue when I show annoyance, then I’d know they were being a dick and I would react more strongly. (By biting them.)
But then again, some cats really do enjoy belly rubs, just like dogs.

To add to that, the last cat I knew well would do the same mouth-on-hand thing in response to belly rubs. That particular cat was saying “I don’t like that and here’s what I’m capable of doing and going to do if you continue.” If I continued, blood would be drawn.

My older cat, does enjoy belly rubs, or at least tolerates it from me. The younger one, not so much.

I would have mentioned Ana Lily Amirpour’s The Bad Batch, but I was left disappointed, and the cannibalism was only a portion of the story.
I was absolutely enthralled by A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, though.
One of mine adores belly rubs, being picked up, and even being cradled on his back like a baby. The others do not want.
