An excellent analysis of school lunches/breakfasts, and how we should justā¦ fund the damn things and ensure that ALL kids are fed while at school!
It seems all that poison about makers and takers the GOP poured on the parts of government supporting the most vulnerable have finally borne more toxic fruit. Iām sure they are pleased to see how difficult it is to apply for assistance or to continue receiving it. Arbitrarily denying claims or lying about peopleās medical condition to remove them from the rolls is inexcusable. Doing this to increase the burden already faced by people and families struggling due to disability makes it very clear that the cruelty is the point. Just like with voting, they start by complaining about non-existent fraud - and the system goes downhill from there.
Agreedā¦ these systems should be easy and transparent to navigate, and the focus should be on helping people, not on a bullshit hunt for fraud. We all know who is really defrauding the American public, and itās not disabled people on disability benefitsā¦

Note that when he talks about GA, the outcome of the legal challenges happened the next day after this aired, and it was positive news.
This seems to be happening to John Oliver a lot lately. Itās gotta be tough trying to tackle some topics in a format like his when the situation is constantly changing.
I thought this piece on traffic stops was excellent:
Something that annoys me every time I get into a car is harassment from other drivers. It must be nice to feel comfortable speeding, signaling occasionally (or never), and generally ignoring traffic laws. I donāt have that luxury, and driving is made a lot worse by folks who get pissed at me because I donāt dare drive like they do. My vehicle is as nondescript as possible, and my head is on a swivel looking for folks with right-wing flags and stickers on their cars as much as Iām on alert for cops.
Absolutely true, but heās doing excellent work on his show. One hopes that people are watching and thinking hard about the issues he brings up.
And thanks for posting last weekāsā¦ that was another excellent episode bringing up an important topic that probably isnāt on the radar for a lot of white people.
