They literally did a rolling blackout in my neighborhood this week with me working at home, and yet here we are with Abbott claiming it just didnβt happen.
pissant!
βIβd do it again, but they took mah gunz!β -sob-
Unfortunately, they only took away those specific guns:
Otherwise, the couple will face few consequences, according to the Associated Press: Both of them can continue to practice law as personal injury attorneys and continue to own guns. There will be no jail time. One concession in the plea deal is theyβll have to give up the weapons they pointed at the protesters last June,
And heβs running for US Senate now.
Yeah. And itβs all too easy to imagine that heβll win.
It reminds me of those old credit card ads.
Fine for waving guns at peaceful protesters: $2,750.
Free press and springboard to the national stage: priceless.
Did they just do them in the blue neighborhoods?
No, thereβs just a prerequisite of wild delusions from the people that treat politics like team sports. Thatβs why if I mentioned it in a conservative space they would blame it on windmills or talk about the black outs caused by BLM riots.
Wow, a republican applauds the US loss of the βVietnam Warβ!
Iβm sure the good people of North Carolina will take the Us military response of napalm, agent orange and carpet bombing in stride.
Nope small arms fire against an army is never going to work. Read the chapter of the flashback to the massacre in the Forest of Screaming Ghosts at the beginning of the Sorrows of War by Bao Ninh for a visceral description of what that looked like from the perspective of the colonised.
The NVA had heavy weaponry. So did the Viet Minh, but more importantly they had IEDs. All the government buildings in the south had measures to avoid placement of bombs. Taking up small arms against a modern army gets you killed and your family killed at your funeral.
Plus, the Vietnamese were willing to die and had been already dying in droves even to expel the French from their land. They were in the long haul mode and more than ready to expend as much blood as necessary to win. Heavy arms plus that kind of attitude means it was inevitable. Whereas a bunch of suburban amateur shootists arenβt going to be much of a threat other than to themselves.
The βevenβ there is a bit unfair I think. It doesnβt take account of what a vicious military culture France had . The previous two centuries of European history were to a great extent defined by it. Just as the Soviet Unionβs suicidal stand against the Nazis in WWII stopped Germany, so did Franceβs horrifying willingness to lose a generation in WWI. Honestly if France hadnβt been overrun in WWII they might have had a bomber wing capable of saving blushes like the US had in Vietnam. They hired cargo planes to drop bombs on Dien Bien Phu. I wouldnβt put it down to some fictional lack of murderous and resilient spirit in the French. They had that in abundance. They lacked the intelligence, support, air power, and reason to be there.
What a and what a betrayal of a fan-base he was more than eager to exploit.
He really did it:
Christ, what an asshole.
Almost seems like there is a pattern here, doesnβt it? If only it were a bit more clearβ¦
Oh yes indeedy.
Among other things, our Texas lege managed to further restrict abortion (which he signed), free up more obstacles for the gun crowd by saying itβs fine to not have a permit / license to carry a gun around in public as long as the gun toter is over age 21 (which he signed) β¦ and more fuckeryβ¦
β¦ buy hey priorities! amirite?
