Or that it’s not a threat of violence, either. Even if they meant it as “the school board are the nazis” way, many people feel perfectly justified in using force to defend against nazis (for good reason) and such comparisons can certainly be used to justify violence against school board members.

Dave Chapelle and Eddie Murphy can be problematic in their own ways but it doesn’t take a doctorate in Critical Race Theory to understand how historical context makes “Black guy in Whiteface” fundamentally different than “White guy in Blackface.”

True. More I meant that people using his attitudes towards trans people as an excuse for why they also get to be horrifically racist in ways that are blindingly obvious to any thinking human should ideally make him stop and go “wait, am I contributing to the problem the way people keep trying to tell me I am?” It’s less that their behaviors are equivalent and more that people are clearly using his work as a springboard to excuse bigger harms.
