Apparently there is a problem with the text of the law, not just with the judge, that let’s the judge get away with it, as there almost always is when giving judges the leeway to be extra easy on white defendants.

Richards [ rittenhouse’s attorney ] said an enlarged image that prosecutors said shows Rittenhouse pointing his gun at protesters is “hocus pocus” that doesn’t prove anything.
And in an apparent reference to the police shooting of a Black man that touched off the protests, said: “Other people in this community have shot people seven times, and it’s been found to be OK.”
