reporting from central texas, i can say that–so far-- things are not too bad. at last report there were around 22,000 customers without power and all of these outages are localized to areas cut off by falling limbs and/or power lines broken by the weight of ice accumulation and not because of power plants shutting down. we still have about 24 hours longer of difficult weather but it does seem, again so far, that whatever modest preparations the utilities have made have been helpful and useful.
