They canβt really believe that modern Russia is communist, can they? This has to be performative? I donβt think that anybody who is intelligent enough to finish middle school could see modern Russia and see communism.
So either people not from Belarus or communists?
Afaict they believe democracy is communism now anyway. And that brutal authoritarianism is the cure for communism/democracy? If they βbelieveβ anything at all at this point.
But do they believe that or do they βbelieveβ it? I find it so hard to sort the grifters from the true believers. I used to think they were all grifters but there are so many of them that have essentially ruined themselves by sticking to their lines long after it made financial or power politics sense to do so.
I donβt know either but I wonder if it matters. Like does it matter if I sold my soul or βsold my soulβ once the devil collects?
Yeah, on a moral level it probably doesnβt. But it might on a strategic, political level. It helps to know whether someone will back down on certain things or whether they are prepared to go full Sonderkommando Elbe.
I was about to write βfull kamikazeβ, but this is a more fitting comparison, ideology-wise
If modern Russia doesnβt exist, then Trump couldnβt be colluding with them, right?
And this:
Education just encourages people to think, rather than just obey. Obviously, this is utterly unacceptable and must be stopped! Thinking is the privilege of the white male ruling class, and absolutely not for the masses!
(/s, i think, slthough probably way too close to accurate for that to really be the case.)
There. Thatβs better
I think their beef with βeducationβ is that they see it not as something thatβs dangerous because it teaches people to think. They instead believe itβs another sector of society threatening America because itβs supposedly run by Godless, commie, anti-white libruls. And so, we need to burn βeducationβ down, including its lying books, and start all over again.
I think it is both (insert why not both gif here).
Real education teaches not just facts, but critical thinking, which undermines authoritarians, whether political, social or religious.
When you donβt just blindly accept things, when you have the ability to analyze information and draw your own conclusions authoritarianism canβt succeed without pulling out the old threat of violence to ensure compliance.
The reason that they claim that education is liberal is because it is. It gives you tools that free you to think for yourself (in a real way, not a βdo your own research wayβ). This is why they hate it.
one of the teachers i was teamed with for several years when i taught 6th grade was convinced that teaching critical thinking skills to all of the students was a bad idea. her take was a variation on the platonic concept of the βnoble lieβ, in that only the few students who had leadership abilities and who would likely go on to be leaders in their community needed to have such skills. she also felt that in 6th grade it was too early to know who those students would be. the mass of the students would be hindered in their role as docile workers by having critical thinking skills and so it would be to their benefit to withhold the teaching of such things.
we had to agree to disagree on that and i finally moved to another team.
Sounds like she was embarrassed because she wasnβt equipped to teach those skills.
Or she really believed what her (wealthy ) βbettersβ apparently believe.
As said by a Generation Jones, who didnβt try to save the world, and was along for the ride. Slightly over one year old during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and still full of shit.
Agree completely. Authorirarians of all stripes just despise an educated populace. For all the reasons noted.
