Mea culpa time

Wow. A straight up apology
"It is clear that this is not just an issue about a bill in Florida, but instead yet another challenge to basic human rights,” Chapek wrote. β€œYou needed me to be a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights and I let you down. I am sorry.”

He was pretty much out of other options. Not only were more and more employees going public with their outrage, but his attempts to buy his way out of controversy with donations to LGBTQ organizations were refused in the absence of meaningful action.

β€œBy doing this, you continue to chip away at the respect of the institutions that the next generation is going to need if they’re going to have civil society,” Thomas said.

This statement should be directed towards your spouse.

The fact that he considers people being publicly shamed for things like rape and being a literal nazi as β€œdisrespect” for β€œinstitutions” tells me what I already knew about him and the β€œinstitutions” he values and protects with his position.

And yet it always feels like new contempt, rage, and sadness every time.

People often frame this as him taking influence from his spouse though and I wonder if instead his spouse has been shaped over the years by his values and agendas. Perhaps he is simply a horrible person in a position of power doing real harm because that’s just the kind of person he really is. Who works harder to please whom in a marriage is always ambiguous. One thing is certain: they have used their personal agendas to influence the laws of the US in any and every way possible from a position of great power. And my opinion is that this has had a negative effect on the lives of US citizens and the even the stability of our country.

Just shows that the Originalists are all a bunch of self-serving frauds. What percentage of the founding fathers’ writing was about disrespecting corrupt individuals in power? 60% 80%

β€œRespect for institutions” my ass. They violently rebelled against their institution. Then they set up a government designed for one branch to cancel out another when it steps across the line.

I find that very easy to believe about a man who jokes about pubic hairs atop the soda cans of his woman coworkers, and other such forms of workplace sexual harassment.

Why wouldn’t they be. It’s the same logic that is used for religious fundamentalism at the core isn’t it? That these new ideas are really the real foundational old ideas and not those ones. Kind of a thin veneer over what seems more like power grab than anything else, and Thomas and his family have profited from it a great deal. This sort of β€œfundamentalist” worldview is something I have truly come to loathe.
