Wow; that’s so relevant to my life right now.
My kid is a junior this year, and we’ve been prepping her for college since she first started high school (I’m no ‘Tiger Mom’, but Black women must take advantage of every possible resource that we can, while we can.)
And since all the way back then one of my guidelines for my daughter’s choice has been:
DO NOT GO TO COLLEGE IN ANY STATE THAT IS EXPLICITLY ANTI-WOMAN.
Or any states that are targeting Transfolks, either; for that matter.

I can’t tell if Abbott’s comments about overturning the case codifying universal public education played well or badly with his base. He’s now claiming he meant the feds should pay for immigrant kids’ education. To which I say, wait- we already get billions from the fed govt for education. Also this gem

Says the man who just stole $500 million from other state agencies to continue funding his political border security theater, Operation Lone Star. Which, btw, is costing 2 billion a year. I have this idea. Let’s stop that useless endeavor, send all the suffering troops home, and use the savings for some multilingual teachers! Maybe, and this is really radical, even some pay raises for all the teachers.

As someone living in an “A+” capitalism society:
- Controlled market;
- Throws up barriers to block success for all but the current elite;
- Private property for only the elite;
- Government controls businesses and markets for benefit of the elite;
- High taxes unless part of the elite;
- Individual freedom only for the elite;
- Promotes corruption.
