It’s kind of like how some famous religious type said the meak will inharit the Irth. Clearly that means only the strong survive!

Clearly Colorado City TX must have the very best roads, since the government has no responsibility for anything else.

So paying your electric bill does not put an obligation on the power company to deliver what you paid for? That’s an interesting take. I thought the Trumpian take was receiving the agreed upon service did not obligate you to pay for it, not the other way around.

Wow, I didn’t know things were looking that dreary for GOP insiders

He resigned at least.

I guess it does for some people…
(ETA, since image isn’t showing - the empty high rises in the city center all have electricity and are all lit up. Rather dystopian against the backdrop of the pitch-black outer areas.)

Someday I want someone to help me understand why people who think government is bad and useless apply for jobs to be in the government. But I think it might be too dark to delve into just now.

In β€œcertain corners,” the sole job of government is to keep the less-thans in their place and ensure the blessings of liberty and prosperity to the better class of people. Nauseating as that may be.

Paying them to do nothing because they deserve it according to god? Making sure the wrong people don’t get β€œundeserved handouts”? Ensuring white male supremacy?

Sadly, been that way for a while.

Republicans who don’t want this to be the face of the party need to either get on with cleaning house or get out. I am very OK with β€œa few” pseudo-nonfascists who are going to support fascists being targeted as fascists.

If somebody burns down his house and says it’s so they can stay warm, should the fire department bother to put out the flames? Maybe they could hand him a bucket and point him to the nearest creek? He shouldn’t count on the city to provide the water.

it depends on the locality but many small towns in texas do not pay the mayor or pay them some tiny stipend each time they meet with the town council. in the town i grew up in, the mayor gets $10 for each city council meeting they preside over. generally once a month.

eta–you get what you pay for.

Loling at the conservatives there who’ve been saying climate change isn’t real and groaning about blue states passing laws that delay the power/heating companies from turning off the heat for the elderly in the middle of winter now asking for a potential power bill bailout

In which Marriage Expert Tucker Carlson explains why the Bidens’ lifetime of marital commitment and mutual support is a performance piece… unlike the eternal and unbreakable bond between Trump and model-turned-mistress-turned-wife-#3 who Donald accidentally referred to as β€œMelanie.”

Must be a slow news day. Feels lazy.

Don’t worry Texas, one of the Donnie party’s finest is doing one of the most helpful things… by knowing he’s just gonna get in the way and decides to just leave the country instead
